campania

campania: a province in southern Italy with the capital Napoli; also a cafe and gastronomia along Columbia Road (right at the far end of the flower market) serving beautiful antipasti with good coffee. along one wall, freshly baked sweets and bread sit in rough stone and wooden bowls, alongside a long, battered canteen table.

although the cafe has only been open for under a year, a throng of customers on market day and a steady stream on other days of the week is testament to the good food, warm service and atmosphere of the place. the selection of cured meats and cheese make a good antipasti plate, with fresh rocket and a drizzle of olive oil. campania also sells cuts of the Neapolitan proscuitto, pancetta and salami they serve. they also serve a few main dishes, including paninis and pizzas (of course), but for me the coffee and antipasti pairing is their strongest suit.
