drink your greens

While scrolling through my food blog feed, I came across news that Pepsi is going to release shiso flavour Pepsi in Japan. If you don't know, shiso is the spade shaped perilla leaf that is often served with raw fish on a sashimi platter. The flavour combination with Pepsi might not sound so appetizing but think of it as a mint (the family of leaves which the shiso belong to) flavour soft drink. As much as I like shiso, the fluorescent green colour of the liquid is rather disconcerting.

In other news, Coca-cola will be releasing green-tea coke (would that make it a 鸳鸯？） and basil coke in Japan.
